Magdalena Matias-Negron

Magdalena was born and raised in Ponce Puerto Rico. As a young child she enjoyed painting and drawing landscapes, fruit and marines scenes. While in high school she participated in an art contest in which she was awarded a scholarship to study at a local academy of art. Through this experience she was able to participate in art classes taught by Jose azaustre Muro, a Well recognized artist from Spain. She enjoys using oil as her favorite medium for painting. With this medium she can express better her realistic style and ideas.
Magdalena obtained a Bachelors Degree in Plastics Arts in the World University of Puerto Rico with a Major concentration in art and minor concentration in Education. She taught art in a private catholic school for 16 years. She participated in collective exhibitions at The Sheraton Hotel in Puerto Rico in 1986. She moved to Tampa, Florida in 1987. For a couple of years she wasn’t painting as she did in Puerto Rico. She was dedicating time to her husband Agustin Negron and their three daughters Magdalena, Rebecca and Mayra. Now she has the time to do what she likes best,” painting.”
She became a member of the Coalition of Hispanic Artist CHA since 2008 and has participated in many exhibitions.
