Dora Iregui was born in Colombia and paints for the pure joy of painting and because of her fascination with the beauty and variety of nature, color and, although it may sound unrelated, her love of music. Dora does not constrict her subjects to only one field and, therefore, paints people, animals, landscapes, buildings, flowers and musical instruments. Regarding the latter, she is frequently asked why she likes to paint musical instruments and all she can think of is “I have such intense passion for both music and art that, for me, they actually become intermingled and this is the only way I can express this feeling”. Dora likes to create her own ideal world, full of music, such as when she mixes nature and music as in “Music in the Woods” painting, or where she just wants to express music as a celebration on its own, such as in her “Crescendo” series. Dora’s paintings have been called whimsical and she has been called a colorist because of her use of strong colors.
Dora hes been painting since 1966 and has received training under Judy Dazzio’s Artists in St. Petersburg, Florida. She has traveled to France, Italy and Mexico to study in various lengthly Art Seminars.
